Momentum. Moving forward. Gaining speed. Building traction. At TEDWomen 2015, we'll explore the bold ideas that create momentum in how we think, live and work. From the young scientist revealing a breakthrough discovery to the activist who methodically transformed how the world thinks about women.
From the veteran CEO whose trade secrets turn organizations around to the athlete whose extraordinary comeback shocked the world.
More than 150 TEDx events around the world will take part in this event, sharing the TEDWomen 2015 livestream while also presenting local speakers who'll tackle the theme of "Momentum". The result: A truly global conversation - from San Francisco to São Paulo to Seoul - celebrating movers and makers; designers and do-ers; local problem-solvers and global leaders.
If you're willing to leave any cozy assumptions behind, we would very much like you to be a part of it by participating in our TEDxCrocettaWomen event.
The session that will be shown is from "TEDWomen 2015: Momentum", which will be held in Monterey, California from 27 to 29 May 2015.
TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is a non-profit organization that has the goal of spreading valuable ideas. Starting as a 4-day conference in California in 1984, TED's "mission" has grown thanks to various efforts.
During the annual TED conference, the world's leading thinkers and doers are invited to present their ideas in presentations that last at max 18 minutes.
Their talks, in the form of TED videos, are being distributed freely through www.ted.com.
Some speakers that have shared during a TED Conference include:
Bill Gates, Al Gore, Jane Goodall, Elisabeth Gilbert, Sir Richard Branson, Nanda Nilekani, Philippe Starck, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Isabel Allende and the English Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
TED holds two yearly conferences: TED at Long Beach, California and TEDGlobal in Edinburgh, Scotland.
Some of the TED projects include www.ted.com where TEDTalks are archived and daily made available, the new TED Conversations that makes it possible for numerous fans to exchange ideas, and the TED Open Translation Project that brings TED Talks beyond the English-speaking world by offering subtitles, interactive transcripts and the ability for any talk to be translated by volunteers worldwide.
The TED Prize is awarded annually to an exceptional individual in order to help provide powerful seed funding for "A Wish to Inspire the World."
The TEDTEDxTED program gives communities, organizations and individuals the opportunity to organize independently local events and a TED Fellows Program that helps innovators throughout the world take part in TED communities and, with the help of the latter, to extend the impact of their projects and activities.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
Our event is called TEDxCrocetta, where x = independently organized TED event. Live speakers and TEDTalks videos combine to spark deep discussion and connection among the partecipants.
The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
